If you have a loved one who lives with mental health challenges such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder or other serious mental illness, you may not realize how much you have in common with other families, caregivers, partners, co-workers and friends.
NAMI Family-to-Family is a free educational program for adults (18+) that can help you and your family learn what to do and how to help. The class is taught by NAMI-trained family members with lived experience and offers practical mental health knowledge, as well as guidance for building coping and problem-solving skills essential to supporting your loved one while taking care of yourself.
Two new Family-to-Family classes begin in March 2019, in our Santa Rosa office. You can choose the timing that works for your schedule:
Wednesdays, March 6 to May 22, 2019, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Saturdays, March 9 to April 13, 2019, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
What recent participants said about their Family-to-Family experience:
- Excellent presenters who spoke with much personal knowledge and experience. They were warm, loving people who made us feel comfortable learning and putting our concerns on the table.
- Fabulous teachers, very respectful, extremely likable and encouraging.
- I gained an understanding that the person behind the symptoms is still there, though it’s often not evident.
- The class helped me feel like I am not alone and gave me the courage and knowledge to help my daughter in a positive way.
